Phase 1 - Home Depot Pickup

Ok, so i'm caught up on most of the stuff thats happened to date. Now for stuff that actually happened today.

Back to my very first post... here's some pics of today's activities... fun stuff (and i got to drive the beast, sits a lil higher than the lowered teg, just a bit)

Took, what felt like a bajillion small trips carrying stuff from the garage to the basement. Well its all safe and sound now ( hey.. just like the insulation).

Yes, Home Depot - I do want to take it with me now... thanks mate.

Crack - Some people like it, some people dont

In our case, crack no good.

Time to suit up and stuff dem cracks.

New Windows

If you're gonna do a job, do it right.

Crappy basement windows had to go, out with the old, in with the new.

Hired someone to replace the old sliding windows with new double glazed ones

The clean up begins

It took 3 weeks for the four of us to clean and purge all the stuff in the basement. We managed to get it down a lot. Don't think the garbage men were too impressed, the front lawn was piled waist high with garbage for 3 weeks straight.

The basement clean up process actually started a year ago, but 80% of it got done in Nov and Dec 2006.

They say prep is the most important part of a project.

Shit...

I hate prep, and i'll show you why:

Project Begins....

Ok here goes... my first blog... seems like everyone else has one, time to join the masses.

So, its boxing day, and instead of gettin up at 4am like last year, waiting in freezing weather and buying $2 G's worth of door crasher electronics from Future Shop, thought we'd splurge on stuff from Home Depot instead.

8am and we're out the door, off to get our first phase of materials for 'Project Entertainment Floor'.

Tamara from Home Depot was kind enough to be our squirrel like aggregator of materials, gave her our messy list and off she went. 4 huge flatbed carts later, we had most of the stuff we were looking for.

Home Depot Credit Card - check
Materials - check
Rental Van - check
Payment - check
Parents - check

Loaded the materials with a not so helpful home depot employee, forever known as the 'lazy brown guy'. Mental note: don't ask him for help next time we go. Tamara comes to the rescue, finished loading stuff with her and mom/dad.

Start the clock, have exactly 1.5 hours to drive home, unload with dad, drive back, load second load, drive back, unload, take a piss, grab chocolates for Tamara + crew, fill up gas, return van and get my $500 deposit back...

Done... phhh with 30 min to kill.
